La Piu Belle 2022 is the artist's wine, where the label is painted and the Carmenere does the talking.

Chile's signature variety, interpreted through a modern lens: black fruits, fresh spice, and floral notes of violet and lavender, with a layered structure that flows gracefully and finishes long. A new dimension of Carmenere, one that blends depth and subtlety.

Awarded 97 points by Jeb Dunnuck and 97 points at the Gilbert & Gaillard International Challenge.

The Blend

What's in the glass, and why.

A blend of 81% Carmenere, 14% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5% Syrah, La Piu Belle 2022 interprets Chile's signature variety through a modern and sophisticated lens. The Carmenere carries the story, the Cabernet Sauvignon gives it spine, and the Syrah adds a floral thread that runs through the whole wine.

Terroir

Where the ground does the work.

La Piu Belle 2022 is grown in the Millahue Valley on deep, porous decomposed granitic soils with natural drainage. A temperate Mediterranean climate moderated by marine influence lets the Carmenere ripen slowly and completely, trading the variety's rustic past for depth and polish.

Barroir

How time shapes the wine.

La Piu Belle 2022 was aged for 20 months in French oak barrels, with 19% raised in Barroir barrels toasted with oak from the estate itself. The Barroir portion threads the wine's sense of place through its texture without overwhelming the Carmenere's natural expression.

Vintage

What the year gave.

The 2022 season, one of the coldest spring to summer cycles Millahue has seen in two decades, slowed the Carmenere's ripening and rewarded it with unusual finesse. The same cold year that shaped VIK 2022 gave this wine its impeccable balance.

Pairings

What to put beside it.

The estate's own pairing is the anchor: beef fillet stuffed with goat cheese with pumpkin and sage gnocchi. La Piu Belle 2022 also sits beautifully beside braised short rib, mushroom-forward pastas, and mature cheeses that meet the Carmenere's spice.
