The Blend

What's in the glass, and why.

A blend of 77% Cabernet Franc and 23% Cabernet Sauvignon, VIK 2021 leads with the estate's signature variety at its most expressive. The Cabernet Franc brings aromatic lift and fine structure, while the Cabernet Sauvignon deepens the frame with concentration and length. It is the vintage that earned two perfect scores.

Terroir

Where the ground does the work.

VIK 2021 is grown in the Millahue Valley, the Place of Gold, on deep, porous decomposed granitic soils with natural drainage. A temperate Mediterranean climate moderated by marine influence gives the fruit a long, even season, preserving freshness alongside full ripeness.

Barroir

How time shapes the wine.

Ninety percent of VIK 2021 was aged for 26 months in Barroir barrels, toasted with native oak from the estate. The remaining ten percent was aged in clay vessels from the estate's Amphoir program, fermented with native yeasts from the Fleuroir program, adding a mineral transparency to the wine's texture.

Vintage

What the year gave.

The 2021 season in Millahue delivered the vintage that earned two perfect scores. A long, even ripening gave the Cabernet Franc its finest expression, with polished tannins and a mineral drive that critics on two continents scored at 100.

Tasting Notes

What the glass gives back.

NOSE

Fine, perfectly ripened red and black fruits with spiced notes that give the wine agility, combining with white and black pepper and hints of blue flowers.

PALATE

An elegant expression with a firm but fine structure. Finely polished tannins develop in a long line, giving a sensation of deep minerality and fine graphite, so fine they seem to float.

APPEARANCE

Deep ruby with garnet depth, dense and brilliant in the glass.

FINISH

The vibration and movement carry through to an exceptionally long finish, built to age for decades.

Pairings

What to put beside it.

VIK 2021's fine tannins and mineral drive suit dishes with equal precision. It belongs beside dry-aged ribeye, roasted lamb with black garlic, or wild mushroom risotto finished with aged pecorino. Decant an hour ahead and let the wine unfold at the table.
